Teak garden chairs are the premium choice among wooden garden chairs. The wood is naturally oil-rich, water-repellent and insect-resistant — it lasts for decades without treatment. At Boender Outdoor you'll find teak garden chairs as dining chairs, reclining chairs and folding chairs.
Why teak garden chairs?
- Extremely durable hardwood — lasts 25–50 years
- Naturally water-repellent thanks to high oil content
- Insect-resistant — no wood rot or decay
- Weathers beautifully to a silvery-grey patina
- FSC-certified and sustainable
- Timeless, warm appearance
Teak vs. other materials
Teak is the most durable outdoor wood and outlasts acacia and eucalyptus in lifespan. Compared to aluminium, teak is heavier but warmer in appearance. Wicker and rope offer a more modern feel but lack the natural warmth of wood.
The greying process
Untreated teak weathers to an elegant silvery-grey patina. This is a natural process that does not affect durability. Want to retain the original honey colour? Treat the wood annually with teak oil or teak sealer.
What to look for in teak garden chairs
- Grade A teak: the heartwood quality with the highest oil content — most durable
- FSC certification: guarantees sustainable forestry
- Fixings: stainless steel screws prevent rust marks on the wood
- Finish: smooth sanded for splinter-free seating comfort
Combining
Teak chairs pair beautifully with a teak garden table for a classic set. Mix with aluminium for a modern-classical look. Add garden cushions for extra comfort and colour.
Maintenance
Teak is the lowest-maintenance outdoor wood. Let it grey or oil annually to retain the original colour. Clean with water and a soft brush. Use a protective cover if you won't be using the chair for a while.

Frequently asked questions
Why is teak so suitable for outdoor furniture?
Teak naturally contains plenty of oil and silica, making it water-repellent, mould-resistant and insect-proof. It is one of the few wood types that can stand outside untreated for decades.
Do I need to oil teak garden chairs?
No, you don't. Untreated teak weathers to a beautiful silvery-grey patina without loss of quality. Oiling is optional if you want to retain the original honey colour.
How long do teak garden chairs last?
Quality teak garden chairs (Grade A) last 25–50 years. Even with intensive outdoor use and minimal maintenance, they retain their structural strength.
What is Grade A teak?
Grade A is the heartwood of the teak tree — the densest part with the highest oil content. Grade B and C are sapwood and less durable. Always choose Grade A for outdoor furniture.
Can I sand greyed teak back to its original colour?
Yes, by lightly sanding (grit 120–180) and re-oiling, greyed teak regains its original honey colour. You can repeat this process as many times as you wish.
Are teak garden chairs heavy?
Yes, teak garden chairs weigh 8–15 kg per chair, heavier than aluminium. This makes them extra stable but less convenient to move around regularly.
Is teak produced sustainably?
At Boender Outdoor we sell only FSC-certified teak. This guarantees that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests.
How do I clean teak garden chairs?
Rinse with a garden hose and if necessary scrub with a soft brush and mild soap. Avoid high-pressure cleaners — they damage the wood grain. Allow to dry thoroughly after cleaning.
