Want to make the most of your time in the garden? Then a parasol is essential. At Boender Outdoor you'll find an extensive range of parasols for every garden, terrace and budget. Whether you're looking for a compact pole parasol for the balcony or a large cantilever parasol above your lounge set — we have the perfect parasol to combine shade and atmosphere.
Why a parasol is essential
A parasol not only protects you from the sun, but also turns your outdoor space into a place where you can relax all day. Modern parasols offer excellent UV protection, are easy to operate and give your garden a stylish appearance. Whether you're enjoying lunch at your garden set, relaxing in your lounge set or reading a book on your sun lounger — with the right parasol you can enjoy the sun comfortably and safely.
- Protection against harmful UV radiation (up to UPF 50+)
- Create a cool, shaded spot in your garden
- Enhance the atmosphere and look of your outdoor space
- Many operating options: tilting, rotating and adjustable height
- Durable materials that last for years
Types of parasols at Boender Outdoor
We offer parasols in different types, sizes and materials from top brands such as Platinum, Garden Impressions, Madison and our own brand Boender Outdoor.
Pole parasol
The classic pole parasol is the most well-known parasol design. The mast is in the centre and on many models passes through the hole in the table. Pole parasols are compact, lightweight and often come with a tilting function for optimal shade. Ideal for smaller terraces, balconies and next to the sun lounger.
Cantilever parasol
A cantilever parasol has the arm on the side, giving you complete freedom of movement under the canopy. No central pole in the way — perfect to hang above a dining table or dining lounge set. Many models are 360° rotatable and tiltable. View our full range of cantilever parasols in various sizes.
Commercial parasols
Sturdy and large, ideal for terraces and professional use. Commercial parasols are designed for intensive daily use and are available in extra-large sizes.
Balcony parasols
Specially designed for small outdoor spaces. These compact parasols take up little room but still provide plenty of shade. Perfect combined with a bistro or balcony set.
Parasols by size
The size of your parasol depends on the area you want to shade. Choose the right size for your situation:
- Up to 3 metres — suitable for a 2 to 4-person table or a sun lounger
- 3 to 3.5 metres — ideal for a 4-person garden set or compact lounge set
- 3.5 metres or larger — perfect for a 6-person or 8-person garden set
- Large parasols — for those who want maximum shade
View our cantilever parasols in specific sizes: 300x300 cm, 350x350 cm, 400x400 cm or round Ø300 cm and Ø400 cm.
Parasols by colour
The colour of your parasol sets the mood on your terrace. At Boender Outdoor you'll find parasols in popular colours:
- Anthracite parasols — modern and versatile
- Black parasols — bold and elegant
- Grey parasols — calm and stylish
- White parasols — fresh and light, perfect for an Ibiza-style garden
- Beige parasols — warm and natural, matches teak garden furniture
Parasol canopy materials
The canopy is crucial for the lifespan, UV protection and appearance of your parasol. There are three commonly used canopy types:
- Polyester — affordable, wrinkle-free and with a UPF of 15–50. Ideal as an entry-level model
- Solefin — colour-fast, stain-resistant and UPF 40–50. Maintains its appearance for years
- Spuncrylic — the premium material: water-repellent, UPF 50+, extremely colour-fast and luxurious in appearance
Always protect your canopy with a parasol cover when you're not using the parasol for a long time. View all our protective covers for parasols and garden furniture.
Choosing the right parasol base
A good parasol base is essential for safety and stability. The rules of thumb:
- Pole parasol: 10–15 kg per metre of canopy diameter. A 3-metre parasol therefore requires at least 30–45 kg
- Cantilever parasol: minimum 60–80 kg, for models larger than 3.5 metres even 100+ kg
- Want flexibility? Choose a mobile parasol base on wheels
- A ground-mounted parasol base provides the strongest anchoring and keeps your terrace clear
- A cross base is ideal for cantilever parasols and easy to move
Also check out our parasols including base if you want to order a complete set, or choose a parasol without base if you already have a base.

Combine parasol with garden furniture
A parasol is the perfect addition to your terrace. Combine a large cantilever parasol with a 6-person garden set for a complete outdoor dining area. Or choose a pole parasol next to your low lounge set for relaxed afternoons in the shade. Complete it with garden cushions, an outdoor rug and perhaps a fire table for cool evenings.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a pole parasol and a cantilever parasol?
A pole parasol has the mast in the centre of the canopy and on many models passes through the centre of the table. A cantilever parasol has the arm on the side, so no central pole needs to go through the table. Cantilever parasols offer more freedom but require a sturdier, heavier base.
How heavy should a parasol base be?
As a rule of thumb: 10-15 kg per metre of parasol diameter for a pole parasol. A cantilever parasol requires a minimum base weight of 60-80 kg, for larger models (3.5 m+) even 100+ kg. Bases that are too light are dangerous in gusts of wind.
Which parasol is best able to withstand wind?
Models with wind ventilation at the top of the canopy are most stable in wind. Aluminium frames are stronger than plastic masts. A cantilever parasol with a swivel arm can be rotated away from the wind. We always recommend closing your parasol at wind force 5 or higher.
What canopy material is best for an outdoor parasol?
Spuncrylic is the premium canopy material: highly colour-fast, water-repellent and UPF 50+ UV protection. Solefin is stain-resistant and easy to clean. Polyester is more affordable but fades faster. All quality parasols at Boender Outdoor have UPF 40 or higher.
How do I store my parasol outside the season?
Clean the canopy and let it dry completely before storing — storing it damp causes mould. Use a parasol cover for maximum protection. Store the parasol lying flat or standing upright in a dry, frost-free place. Remove the base to save space.
What size parasol do I need?
For a 4-person garden set, a 3-metre parasol is sufficient. For a 6-person garden set we recommend 3.5 metres, and for 8 or more people a 4-metre parasol. Always measure your table and add 50 cm extra around it for adequate shade.
Can I leave a parasol outside all year round?
We recommend storing your parasol in autumn and winter or at least using a good parasol cover. Prolonged exposure to rain, frost and snow shortens the lifespan of the canopy and structure, especially on models with a steel frame.
Is free delivery available for parasols?
Yes, at Boender Outdoor delivery is free for orders from €1,000. Most parasols fall above this threshold. Delivery time is usually 1-2 working days.
