Which type of pool suits you?
An inflatable pool with an inflatable ring is quick to set up and you can store it away again after summer. A frame pool has a frame of steel tubes and is sturdier, also in larger sizes. A pool with a steel wall or a wooden wall is meant to stay in place longer; some models can also be partly dug in. Check the specifications and the manual for what the manufacturer says about this. With the Model filter you see which types are available per category.
Size, shape and capacity
First measure the spot in your garden. The ground must be flat and firm, without stones or roots, and a filled pool weighs a lot: each litre of water is about a kilo. With the Shape and Diameter or length filters you find a round, rectangular or oval pool that fits. The Capacity filter shows how many litres of water the pool holds, if the manufacturer states this. You also need that capacity to choose a filter pump and, if needed, a heat pump that suits the pool.
Clean and warm water
A filter pump keeps the water moving and catches dirt in a cartridge or in a sand filter. Many pool sets include a pump, with others you buy one separately. Manufacturers often state up to which capacity a pump is suitable; choose a pump that matches your pool. A cover keeps leaves and dirt out, and a solar cover helps keep the water warm. If you want to swim longer into the season, a heat pump or pool heating is an option. A pool robot or pool vacuum cleaner cleans the bottom, so you need to work less with a net and brush. For clear water, water treatment is needed alongside filtering; follow your pool's manual for this. We don't compare water treatment products on this site.
Hot tub or spa in the garden
You set up an inflatable spa without digging on a flat, firm surface and heat it via the built-in pump. Spas with a fixed wall are sturdier and often stay in place all year round. When comparing, pay attention to the number of people, the dimensions, the capacity and what is included, such as a cover or app control. With the People and Capacity filters you quickly find a spa that fits.
Safe swimming and bathing
Always supervise children in or near the water, even with a shallow pool. Remove a pool ladder or cover the pool when it isn't in use. Connect a filter pump, heat pump or spa to an earthed socket with a residual current device (RCD) and follow the manufacturer's manual, also for the water temperature in a spa. Keep electrical appliances at the distance from the water stated in the manual.
Brands
Here you compare products from Intex and Bestway (above-ground pools, spas, pumps and accessories), Lay-Z-Spa and MSpa (spas and spa accessories), Interline and Gre (pools, covers and technology) and Zodiac and Dolphin (pool robots).
Frequently asked questions
Which above-ground pool suits my garden?
Measure the spot and leave space all around to reach the pool and place a ladder. Then use the Shape and Diameter or length filters to choose a pool that fits. Also pay attention to the capacity: a larger pool needs a stronger filter pump and a firm, flat surface.
What's the difference between a frame pool and an inflatable pool?
An inflatable pool has an inflatable ring that rises as you fill it, and is quick to set up. A frame pool hangs in a frame of steel tubes, is sturdier and is also available in larger and deeper sizes.
Do I need a filter pump?
For most pools you use for more than a few days, yes. A filter pump catches dirt and keeps the water moving. Many pool sets include a pump. Otherwise, choose a pump that the manufacturer states is suitable for your pool's capacity.
What should I pay attention to with an inflatable spa?
Look at the number of people, the dimensions and the capacity, and whether a cover is included. Place the spa on a flat, firm surface and connect it to an earthed socket with a residual current device (RCD), as stated in the manual.
Does Boender Outdoor sell pools itself?
No. Boender Outdoor is a comparison site. Here you see the products and the current price, and you order from the shop. Delivery, returns and warranty are arranged with that shop.
