Compare Climbing Frames and Trampolines
A garden where children can jump, climb, swing and play in the sand naturally becomes the place where they most like to be outside. On this page you compare trampolines, climbing frames, swings, sandpits, playhouses and pedal go-karts side by side, with the key specifications and the current price at the shop. Boender Outdoor does not sell anything itself: you always order from the shop, with their delivery and terms.
What do you find in this category?
- Trampolines: trampolines on legs and in-ground trampolines, round, rectangular or oval, with or without a safety net.
- Climbing frames and swings: play towers and climbing frames, swings and nest swings, slides, climbing frames, somersault bars and seesaws.
- Sandpits and playhouses: wooden and plastic sandpits, playhouses and outdoor play kitchens.
- Pedal go-karts: pedal go-karts, from small models for toddlers to large go-karts for older children.
- Climbing frame accessories: safety nets, ladders, covers and anchoring sets for trampolines, swing seats and trailers for pedal go-karts.
How much space do you need?
First measure the spot in the garden, and allow plenty of room. Around a trampoline, swing or play tower there should be a clear zone without a fence, wall, paving with sharp edges, trees or garden furniture, so that a child who falls or jumps off the swing lands safely. With a swing you also need space in front of and behind the equipment to swing out. Check the dimensions in the specifications for each product and compare them with the spot you have. With the Diameter and Shape filters you quickly find a trampoline that fits.
What age do you need to consider?
Not every climbing frame suits every age. A low slide, a small sandpit or a plastic playhouse is made for toddlers and young children, while a large trampoline, a monkey bar or a pedal go-kart with gears is intended for older children. With the Age filter you see the minimum age stated in the title or the specifications. Also check the maximum user weight: with the Max. user weight filter you find equipment that is also suitable as your child grows, or if an adult wants to use it.
Wood, steel or plastic?
Wooden climbing frames, sandpits and playhouses fit nicely into a green garden. Wood does take some upkeep: it can shrink, expand and eventually splinter, so a maintenance treatment with stain or oil keeps it looking good for longer. Steel frames, such as on trampolines, monkey bars and swing frames, are strong and often galvanised against rust. Plastic toys are light, easy to clean and you can move them without effort, but they can fade in full sun. With the Material filter you see what each product is made of. You also choose the colour with a filter, so the climbing frame suits your garden.
Playing safely in the garden
Read the instructions before assembly and check that all parts are present. Set up a trampoline or climbing frame level on a soft surface such as grass, and anchor it with an anchoring set if your garden is exposed to wind. Regularly check that bolts, springs, ropes and the safety net are still in good condition. Supervise when young children are playing, and on a trampoline it is best to let only one child jump at a time. Cover a sandpit when it is not in use, so it stays clean.
Brands
Here you compare climbing frames from BERG (trampolines and pedal go-karts), EXIT (trampolines, climbing frames, playhouses and sandpits), Salta (trampolines and accessories), AXI (wooden climbing frames, playhouses, sandpits and slides) and Little Tikes (plastic slides, sandpits and playhouses).
Frequently asked questions
Which size trampoline fits in my garden?
Measure the free space in your garden and subtract a safe zone on all sides. A round trampoline of around 2.5 metres fits in a small garden, a trampoline of 4 metres or more needs a spacious garden. With the Diameter filter you choose a size.
What is the difference between a trampoline on legs and an in-ground trampoline?
A trampoline on legs stands freely on the grass and is easy to move. An in-ground trampoline is dug into the ground, so the jumping mat lies roughly level with the grass. That stands out less in the garden and children find it easy to step on and off, but digging it in takes more work.
From what age is a climbing frame suitable?
This varies per product. For each climbing frame the minimum age is stated in the title or in the specifications, if the manufacturer provides it. With the Age filter you see which products suit your child's age.
Should I anchor a trampoline or climbing frame?
In a garden exposed to wind that is sensible. An anchoring set fixes the frame to the ground, so that a trampoline does not shift or tip over in a gust of wind. With some climbing frames anchoring is included with delivery; check the specifications for this.
Does Boender Outdoor sell climbing frames itself?
No. Boender Outdoor is a comparison site. Here you see the products and the current price, and you order from the shop. Delivery, assembly service and warranty are arranged with that shop.
