Which parasol cover fits my parasol?
The right cover depends on the type and size of your parasol:
- Pole parasol cover — long, narrow cover that slides over the closed parasol
- Cantilever parasol cover — larger cover that also covers the arm and frame
- Cover with pole — pull it over the parasol from top to bottom
- Zip cover — opens fully for easy and neat covering
Measure your parasol when closed (height and circumference) and choose a cover with at least the same dimensions.
Material and quality
The best parasol covers are made from water-repellent polyester with PU or PVC coating. Look for these features:
- Water column 5,000+ mm — completely waterproof
- Ventilation openings — prevents condensation and mould
- Drawstring or clamp band — keeps the cover firmly in place in the wind
- UV-resistant — the cover itself should not fade either

- Pole parasol — choose a cover 150–200 cm in height
- Cantilever parasol — choose a specific cantilever parasol cover that covers frame and arm
- Large parasol (350+ cm) — choose an XXL cover with adequate circumference
Tips for use
- Always let the parasol dry first before putting the cover over it

What size parasol cover do I need?
Measure your parasol when closed (height and circumference). Choose a cover with at least the same height and circumference. If in doubt, choose a larger size — too tight is more damaging than slightly too loose.
Should I choose a universal or brand-specific cover?
A brand-specific cover fits most precisely. A universal cover is cheaper and fits multiple parasols, but sits less snugly.
Can my parasol get mouldy under a cover?
Only if the parasol gets wet before covering. Always let the fabric dry first and choose a cover with ventilation openings.
How long does a parasol cover last?
A quality polyester cover with PU coating lasts 3–5 seasons. Cheaper covers need replacing sooner. In cold weather, don't store the cover folded on a cold floor.
Is a zip cover better than a slip-on cover?
A zip cover is easier to put on and remove. A slip-on cover is simpler and often cheaper. For large cantilever parasols, a zip cover is recommended.
How much does a parasol cover cost?
Parasol covers are available from around €25 for pole parasols. Covers for large cantilever parasols cost €40–€80. Premium covers with extra ventilation and UV coating cost around €60–€100.
Do I need a cover in summer too?
Yes, a cover is also recommended in summer when the parasol is closed. It prevents bird droppings, tree sap, pollen and UV wear on the fabric.
Does a pole parasol cover fit a cantilever parasol?
No, cantilever parasols have a wider and differently shaped base. Always buy a cover specifically designed for your parasol type.
