Parasol base on wheels — mobile and stable

A parasol base on wheels combines the best of both worlds: the stability of a heavy base and the flexibility to move your parasol easily. No more struggling with heavy concrete blocks — with integrated wheels you can roll the parasol effortlessly to the desired position. At Boender Outdoor you'll find mobile parasol bases for various parasol types. View our complete parasol and parasol base range.

Benefits of a parasol base on wheels

  • Easy to move — tilt the base onto the wheels and roll to the desired location
  • No strain on your back — ideal for heavy parasols and bases
  • Flexible shade — follow the sun throughout the day without rotating the canopy
  • Suitable for various surfaces — tiles, concrete and flat wooden decking
  • Stable when parked — wheel brakes keep the base in place

When to choose a base on wheels?

A mobile parasol base is ideal if you:

  • Move your parasol regularly to follow the sun
  • Have a large, heavy parasol that's difficult to lift
  • Want to provide varying shade over your lounge set or sun lounger
  • Have physical limitations and can't lift heavy bases

Mobile base versus other options

  • Vs. cross base — a cross base is more stable but cannot be moved with the parasol up
  • Vs. ground-mounted base — a ground-mounted base is maximally stable but fixed permanently in one spot
  • Vs. concrete base — a concrete base is more compact but moving it requires lifting

Weight and stability

Mobile parasol bases are available in various weight categories. Select the weight based on your parasol:

  • Pole parasol up to Ø 250 cm — base of 30–40 kg
  • Pole parasol Ø 270–300 cm — base of 50–70 kg
  • Cantilever parasol — mobile cross base with 80–120 kg tiles

Always apply the wheel brakes after moving the parasol to the desired position.

Frequently asked questions

How heavy are parasol bases on wheels?

Mobile bases for pole parasols typically weigh 30–70 kg. Despite the weight, they're easy to move thanks to the wheels.

Do the wheels work on grass?

On short grass and flat lawns, most wheels work well. On soft or wet grass, the wheels may sink. Use base plates in that case.

Are mobile bases as stable as fixed bases?

With the wheel brakes engaged, mobile bases are nearly as stable as fixed concrete bases. In strong wind, you only need to close the parasol, not move the base.

Can I convert an existing base to wheels?

Universal wheel bases exist where you can place an existing concrete base. Check the maximum load and the dimensions of the base.

How much does a parasol base on wheels cost?

Mobile parasol bases start from around €80 for lightweight pole parasol models. Heavier bases (50+ kg) with integrated wheels cost €120–€250.

Which wheels are best?

Rubber wheels are best: they don't scratch tiles and offer good grip. Plastic wheels are cheaper but less durable on uneven surfaces.

Do I need to lock the wheels?

Yes, always engage the wheel brakes when the parasol is open. This prevents the base from shifting unintentionally in the wind.

Does a mobile base fit every parasol?

Check the mast diameter. Most mobile bases have a standard tube diameter of Ø 38 or 48 mm. For different sizes, you can use an adapter ring.
