Divide & Conquer system — multi-zone cooking
The Divide & Conquer (D&C) system is the most versatile accessory for your kamado. This two-piece grate system divides the kamado into cooking zones at multiple heights and levels, allowing you to cook simultaneously over direct and indirect heat:
- Sear steak directly on the lower zone whilst cooking potatoes indirectly on the upper zone
- Smoke spare ribs low-and-slow on the upper zone with a drip pan underneath to catch moisture
- Cook pulled pork indirectly whilst simmering sauce directly on the lower zone
The D&C system is available for all Keij Kamado sizes: 15, 18, 20, 21, 23 and 25 inch. Always check your kamado size in inches before ordering.
Plate setter / Heat deflector — for indirect grilling
The plate setter (also called heat deflector or heat shield) is essential for low-and-slow cooking and baking. Placed beneath the grate, it redirects direct heat into indirect radiant warmth. Common uses:
- Pulled pork — 10 to 14 hours at 110–120 °C for tender, juicy meat
- Brisket — 8 to 14 hours at 110–115 °C for the perfect smoke ring and texture
- Spare ribs — 3–2–1 method at 110–120 °C for meat that falls off the bone
- Whole chicken — 1.5 hours at 175 °C for crispy skin and juicy meat
- Baking — bread, quiche and desserts in a ceramic or cast iron dish
The plate setter is available in ceramic finish (optimal heat distribution) and steel finish (faster response to temperature changes) for all Keij Kamado sizes.
Rotisserie — for whole chickens and roasts
With a rotisserie you slowly rotate whole chickens, lamb shanks, pork roasts or shoulder cuts above the charcoal. The electric motor ensures even rotation and perfect cooking from outside to inside:
- Even heat distribution around the meat
- Crispy, golden-brown exterior from continuous rotation
- Juicy interior: moisture stays in the meat thanks to constant movement
- Hands-free cooking: the motor rotates the meat automatically
The rotisserie is available for kamado sizes from 15 to 25 inch and can be extended with a kebab skewer set and a rotisserie basket for vegetables and prawns.
Pizza stone — for authentic Neapolitan pizza
With a ceramic pizza stone you transform your kamado into a wood-fired pizza oven. The stone absorbs heat and distributes it evenly and quickly to the pizza base. Result:
- Pizza in 60 to 90 seconds at 300–350 °C
- Crispy, lightly charred base
- Perfectly melted mozzarella and golden crust
- Suitable for any pizza, focaccia or flatbread
The pizza stone is available in sizes from 20.6 cm (XXS) to 38 cm (Large). Always preheat the stone for at least 30 minutes with the kamado for the best result. Choose a stone slightly smaller than your kamado's internal diameter so hot air can circulate around it.
Cast iron grill grate and wok
For the most intense grill marks and higher heat transfer, replace the standard steel grate with a cast iron grill grate. Cast iron retains heat extremely well and transfers it quickly to the meat — ideal for steak, chops and fish. With the cast iron wok you harness the intense heat of the kamado for high-heat wok cooking.
Protective covers — protect your investment
A protective cover is the easiest way to protect your kamado. Keij Kamado covers are water-repellent and UV-resistant, custom cut for the round kamado shape and fitted with a drawstring for a snug fit. Available for sizes from 13 inch (Small) to 25 inch (XXL).
Thermometers — for perfect results
Accurate temperature measurement is the key to consistent BBQ success. Our accessory range includes a meat thermometer for internal meat temperature and a kamado thermometer that measures air temperature directly above the grate.
Smoking wood — for extra flavour depth
Add smoking wood chips or chunks via the chip feeder of the Keij Legend for extra smoke flavour. Popular wood types: apple (mild, fruity, perfect for poultry), cherry (mild, adds beautiful colour), hickory (classic BBQ flavour, ideal for brisket), oak (versatile, for virtually any meat) and mesquite (strong and peppery).

Frequently asked questions
Do Keij Kamado accessories fit all kamados?
Most Keij Kamado accessories are specially designed for Keij Kamados and are size-specific. They may also fit other kamado brands of the same size (in inches), but this is not guaranteed. Always check the size in the product description. Universal accessories such as thermometers, tongs and gloves are suitable for any brand.
What's the difference between a plate setter and a Divide & Conquer system?
A plate setter is a loose ceramic or steel heat shield that redirects direct heat to indirect warmth — essential for low-and-slow cooking. The Divide & Conquer system is a more complete multi-zone cooking system with grates at multiple heights plus a built-in heat shield. The D&C system is more versatile; the loose plate setter is simpler and more affordable.
What size pizza stone do I need?
The pizza stone should be slightly smaller than your kamado's internal diameter so heat can circulate around it. For a 15-inch compact use a stone of approximately 29.5 cm; for a 21-inch large use a 38 cm stone. Always consult the product description for exact size recommendations.
How do I maintain my kamado accessories?
Always let ceramic accessories (plate setter, pizza stone) cool completely before cleaning — never pour water on a hot stone as this can cause cracks. Clean stainless steel and cast iron accessories with a grill brush and warm water. Store cast iron parts dry and lightly coated with vegetable oil to prevent rust formation.
How do I use the chip feeder?
The chip feeder on the Keij Legend lets you add smoking wood chips without opening the dome. Put dry chips in the feeder, push the slider open and the chips fall onto the charcoal. Repeat every 30 to 60 minutes for continuous smoke production. Place large chunks directly on the charcoal when lighting.
Which smoking wood do I use for which meat?
For poultry and pork: fruity wood such as apple or cherry for mild flavour. For beef (brisket, spare ribs): stronger wood types such as hickory or oak. For fish and shellfish: use mild wood (apple, cherry) in small quantities — fish is sensitive to over-smoking. Mesquite is intense; use it sparingly and preferably only for short sessions.
