This impressive outdoor kitchen combines six different burners – including four main burners, an infrared bottom burner and an infrared rear burner – with three cast-iron grill grates and a cast-iron hotplate for unparalleled versatility. The spacious cooking surface of 90 x 44 cm provides ample work space to prepare multiple dishes simultaneously, whilst the integrated cooler, two storage drawers and a storage cupboard ensure you have everything within reach. Thanks to the wheels, this 100 kilo kitchen is also fully mobile, so you remain flexible in the layout of your outdoor space.
Features & benefits of the Luciano Nero Outdoor Kitchen
Cast-iron grates and hotplate for restaurant quality
The three cast-iron grill grates form the beating heart of this outdoor kitchen and deliver those characteristic grill marks that bring every piece of meat, fish or vegetable to life. Cast iron retains heat exceptionally well and distributes it evenly across the entire surface, resulting in perfect cooking results with a professional finish. The included cast-iron hotplate extends your cooking possibilities further: ideal for frying eggs, pancakes, fried rice or finely sliced vegetables that would otherwise fall through the grates.
Six burners for maximum flexibility and precision
With four main burners you can create different temperature zones, essential for preparing dishes simultaneously that require different heat levels. The infrared rear burner is specially designed for perfectly cooking rotisserie spits and large cuts of meat, with intense radiant heat ensuring even browning all round. The infrared bottom burner provides extremely high temperatures, perfect for quickly searing steaks or preparing wok dishes that require that characteristic 'wok hei' flavour.
Integrated cooler for ultimate convenience
A unique feature of the Luciano Nero is the built-in cooler, which transforms your outdoor kitchen into a completely self-contained cooking unit. Keep marinades, butter, sauces and drinks chilled at arm's length from your grill surface, so you don't need to constantly run inside whilst cooking. This thoughtful addition not only makes lengthy barbecuing sessions with friends and family more comfortable, but also safer: ingredients remain at the right temperature until the moment you need them.
Generous storage space and practical layout
With two storage drawers and a spacious storage cupboard, the Luciano Nero offers plenty of room for all your grill tools, cleaning supplies, seasonings and accessories. The grease drip tray is easily accessible and removable, which significantly simplifies maintenance. The warming rack at the top of the grill keeps rolls warm or allows grilled vegetables to finish cooking whilst you put the finishing touches to the main course, so you can serve everything at the same time.
Applications
Direct grilling for perfect searing
Place steaks, burgers, sausages or fish skewers directly above the burning burners on the cast-iron grates for that classic grilling result with crispy exterior and juicy interior. The temperature gauge on the lid helps you monitor the exact heat, whilst the four individually adjustable burners allow you to create different zones – one for high heat for searing, one for medium heat for cooking through. The 90 cm wide grill surface means you can grill for a large group all at once without having to work in batches.
Indirect grilling for low-and-slow cooking
By turning on the outer burners and placing the food in the middle, you transform the Luciano Nero into an outdoor oven. This method is perfect for spare ribs, pulled pork, whole chickens or even pizzas and breads. The closed lid creates a convection effect where hot air circulates around the food, resulting in evenly cooked meat that falls off the bone. The combination of multiple burners gives you precise control over the temperature, essential for cooking methods that require hours at constant low heat.
Rotisserie grilling with the infrared rear burner
The infrared rear burner is specifically designed for use with a rotisserie spit (if purchased separately), with whole chickens, lamb shanks or rolled roasts slowly rotating and browning evenly on all sides. The intense radiant heat ensures a crispy skin whilst the meat remains tender and juicy. This grilling method delivers spectacular results that will certainly impress your guests at garden parties and family gatherings.
Assembly & use
The Boretti Luciano Nero Outdoor Kitchen is supplied with clear assembly instructions, with most components already pre-assembled. Budget for approximately two to three hours assembly time with two people, mainly connecting the various modules to each other, mounting the wheels and checking the gas connections. Make sure you use a suitable gas regulator and hose that comply with Dutch safety standards, and check all connections with soapy water for any leaks before using the grill for the first time.
For first use it is essential to season the cast-iron grates and hotplate. Rub them with heat-resistant oil, heat the grill for 30-45 minutes at high temperature, and then allow them to cool. This process creates a natural non-stick coating and protects the cast iron from rust. Repeat this seasoning process a few times for optimal results. After each use you can clean the grates with a grill brush whilst they are still warm, and rub them lightly with oil to maintain the protective layer. The grease drip tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly to prevent fat build-up and fire hazard.
Although the Luciano Nero is built to withstand outdoor weather, we recommend covering the outdoor kitchen with an appropriate protective cover when you do not use it for longer periods. For long-term storage outside the grilling season, it is wise to disconnect the gas bottle, thoroughly clean all removable parts and leave the cooler empty and dry. Thanks to the wheels, you can easily move the complete unit to covered storage or a garage for optimal protection against Dutch winter weather conditions.
Frequently asked questions
Are the cast-iron grates and hotplate replaceable?
Yes, all cast-iron parts of the Luciano Nero are replaceable and can be ordered separately from Boender Outdoor. With proper care – regularly oiling and drying well after cleaning – cast-iron grates will last for years and actually improve the more you use them. Boender Outdoor also advises on the right maintenance products to maximise the lifespan of your cast-iron components.
How much gas does this outdoor kitchen consume on average?
Gas consumption depends on how many burners you use and at what setting. At full power with all six burners on, the Luciano Nero consumes approximately 1.5 to 2 kg of gas per hour. For normal barbecuing sessions where you don't use all burners at maximum, you can expect 3-5 hours of grilling pleasure with a standard 10 kg gas bottle. The infrared burners consume slightly more gas than regular burners due to their higher power output.
Can I connect this outdoor kitchen to mains gas?
The Luciano Nero is supplied as standard for use with propane gas (bottle). With a professional conversion kit and installation by a certified gas fitter, the grill can be converted for mains gas, which is especially convenient if you have a fixed mains gas connection in your garden. Contact Boender Outdoor for advice on possibilities and certified installers in your region.
What is the difference between the infrared burners and standard gas burners?
Standard gas burners heat the air which then heats the food, whilst infrared burners produce radiant heat that directly hits the food, similar to the sun. This results in much higher surface temperatures (up to 400°C), ideal for perfectly searing meat whilst retaining juices. The infrared rear burner provides even heating for rotisserie cooking, whilst the bottom burner delivers extremely high heat
