Compare pressure washers and patio cleaners
A pressure washer cleans tiles, decking, fences, garden furniture and the bicycle without scrubbing. On this page you can compare pressure washers and patio cleaners from, among others, Kärcher, Gardena and Makita, along with specifications and the current price at the shop.
How much pressure do you need?
Pressure is stated in bar. For garden furniture, the bicycle and the occasional patio, a lighter machine of around 110 to 120 bar is enough. For larger patios, driveways and stubborn green algae, you'll work faster with 130 to 180 bar and a higher water flow rate (litres per hour). More pressure isn't always better: soft wood and joints can be damaged by too much pressure.
Patio cleaner
A patio cleaner is a round head with rotating nozzles or roller brushes that you move over the tiles or planks. The water doesn't splash everywhere and you get an even result without streaks. Some pressure washers come with this kind of attachment; there are also standalone patio cleaners with their own motor.
What should you look out for?
- Hose length and reel: a long hose with a reel works well on a large patio.
- Detergent: many machines have a tank or attachment for spraying detergent.
- Battery or mains power: cordless models have less pressure, but are handy where there's no socket.
Brands
Most pressure washers in this comparison are from Kärcher, from the compact K 2 to the K 7. You'll also find cordless pressure washers from Gardena and Einhell, plus models from Makita. With the filters, you can quickly see which ones run on battery.

Frequently asked questions
How many bar do I need for my patio?
For garden furniture and a small patio, around 110 to 120 bar is enough. For larger patios and driveways, you'll work faster with 130 to 180 bar and a higher water flow rate.
Can I clean a wooden deck with a pressure washer?
Yes, but use lower pressure and keep your distance, or use a patio cleaner with brushes. Too much pressure can roughen up the wood fibres.
What is a patio cleaner?
A round head with rotating nozzles or brushes that you move over the patio. You get an even result and the water splashes around less.
