Compare Steinel outdoor lighting: sensor lights and floodlights
Steinel is a German brand best known for motion detectors and sensor technology. That know-how carries over into its outdoor lighting: most Steinel lights have a built-in sensor. On this page you compare Steinel outdoor lights with the current price at the shop.
What does Steinel offer?
- Wall lights: sensor lights from the L series (such as L 1, L 15, L 20, L 22, L 560 S and L 830 to L 940), the Cubo and the ONE, and sensor lights with a camera such as the L 625 CAM and Xled CAM2.
- Floodlights and spots: the Xled line (Home 2, ONE, Curved, Slim and PRO), the LS 150 floodlight and garden spots such as the Garden S Connect.
- Standing lights: the spherical Sphera and the SpotWay pedestal lights.
- Sets: a 24V garden lighting starter set.
Which sensor?
Steinel uses different sensors. A PIR sensor reacts to heat and movement. Models with HF or iHF in the name have a high-frequency sensor. Many floodlights also come as a Slave version: these have no sensor of their own and switch on together with a light that does, which is handy for lighting a driveway with several lights at once. Lights with Connect or Bluetooth in the name are set up through an app.
24V garden system
Besides mains-powered lights (230 V), Steinel has a 24 volt low-voltage system, including the Sphera globe lights, the Spot Way SC with RGB light and a five-piece starter set. To compare another low-voltage system, take a look at Garden Lights. For spots without power there are solar lights from the XSolar line with a motion sensor.
What to look for
Choose the light for the location: a wall light with sensor for the front door, a floodlight for the driveway or back garden. Check the IP rating: IP44 is splash-proof, IP65 copes better with rain and water jets. With models that have an E27 fitting, such as the L 585 S and L 858 S, you choose the bulb yourself.
How to compare Steinel
With the filters you choose by type, power source, IP rating, smart, colour and material. Sort by price and order from the shop itself. Other smart lights can be found in smart garden lighting, more brands under garden lighting.
Frequently asked questions
What does Slave mean on a Steinel floodlight?
A Slave version has no sensor of its own. It switches on together with a Steinel light that does have a sensor, so several lights come on at the same time.
What is the difference between PIR and HF at Steinel?
A PIR sensor reacts to heat and movement. An HF (high-frequency) sensor works on a different measuring principle. Check the range and detection angle on the product page.
Can I set up a Steinel sensor light through an app?
Yes, models with Connect or Bluetooth in the name are set up through an app, for example the sensitivity and how long the light stays on.
Does Steinel make low-voltage lighting?
Yes, there is a 24V garden system including the Sphera, the Spot Way SC and a starter set. It connects through a power supply.
