Compare Dometic cool boxes and camping gear
Dometic is a Swedish company known for cool boxes and fridges for travelling, for the car, the motorhome and the campsite. On this page you mainly compare Dometic's cool boxes, supplemented by a few camping chairs, a table and a tent, with the current price at the shop.
What will you find from Dometic?
- Compressor cool boxes: the CFX5, CFX3, CFX2 and CFF series, and the CDF2. These work like a small fridge and hold the temperature you set. Dual zone models (DZ) have two compartments, each with its own temperature.
- Thermoelectric cool boxes: the TropiCool TCX, the CoolFun and the hybrid C2K, which run on 12 volts and often on 230 volts too.
- Passive cool boxes and cool bags: the hard Patrol, Cool Ice and Recon Hardside, and the soft Recon Softside and PSC cool bags.
- Camping furniture: reclining chairs such as the Firenze and Modena, the Lusso Roma and a camping table.
Compressor or thermoelectric?
A compressor cool box cools independently of the outside temperature and on many models can also freeze. It uses relatively little power, which makes it suitable for longer trips. A thermoelectric cool box is lighter and cheaper, but only cools to a fixed number of degrees below the outside temperature. For a warm holiday, or if you also want to freeze, a compressor model is the better choice.
Passive cooling
The Patrol, Cool Ice and Recon are insulated cool boxes without power. You fill them with ice or ice packs. They are sturdy and handy for a day out, a festival or as an extra cool box alongside an electric model. The Softside and PSC models are soft cool bags that you carry over your shoulder or on your back. Chill the contents beforehand and keep the box in the shade to get the most out of the ice.
What should you look for in a compressor cool box?
Look at the capacity and whether bottles fit upright, at the weight and at the connections. Many compressor cool boxes run on 12 and 24 volts and on 230 volts, and have battery protection that prevents the car battery from running completely flat. Models with wheels, such as the larger CFX5 versions, are easier to move. Each product lists the dimensions and the connections. Also measure the space in your car or motorhome first, so the cool box fits and there is room around the ventilation.
Camping furniture from Dometic
Besides cool boxes you will find a few reclining chairs here, such as the Firenze and Modena with an adjustable backrest, the Lusso Roma lounge chair and a camping table. They are made for the campsite and the motorhome and fold flat for transport.
How to compare Dometic
Use the filters to choose by cooling type, capacity and colour, and sort by price or popularity. You always order from the shop itself. Mobicool is also part of Dometic, and the camping barbecues from Cadac now appear under the Dometic name. Other cool boxes can be found under Coleman and Campingaz; all cool boxes together under cool boxes.
Frequently asked questions
What does DZ mean on a Dometic cool box?
DZ stands for dual zone. Such a cool box has two compartments that you each set to their own temperature, for example one compartment for cooling and one for freezing.
Can a Dometic compressor cool box also freeze?
Many models can. You set the temperature, and models such as the CFX series can also cool below zero. The product details give the temperature range.
Does a Dometic cool box run on 230 volts?
Most electric Dometic cool boxes run on 12 volts and 230 volts, and many compressor models on 24 volts too. The product details list the connections.
Do I buy Dometic through Boender Outdoor?
No. Boender Outdoor compares prices and does not sell anything itself. You order from the shop, with its own delivery and terms.
