Materials compared

Teak: warm and heavy
Teak is a wood with a lot of natural oil, which makes it well resistant to moisture. Left untreated, it turns silvery grey outdoors; if you want to keep its warm colour, you'll need to oil it. For some of the teak series, Apple Bee mentions SVLK teak, an Indonesian certification for legally harvested timber, for example on the St. Lucia lounge set. Aluminium with rope or wicker
On Santorini and Bora Bora, the backrest and armrests are woven from rope, a synthetic cord that dries quickly. Cocoon has woven wicker; Apple Bee calls this weave Biculair, for example on the Cocoon lounge chair. Sintered stone and ceramic

BEE WETT cushions
BEE WETT is the name Apple Bee uses for its quick-drying cushions. According to the brand, rainwater runs through the cushion instead of staying inside it, so it dries faster after a shower than a cushion with ordinary foam. Warranty
The warranty varies by product. For some Apple Bee products we compare, the product information states 2 or 3 years; for many lounge sets, it says "no manufacturer's warranty". That doesn't necessarily say anything about quality, but it does mean you need to check. Ask the shop which warranty applies and what it covers: a frame, a cushion cover and a tabletop all wear in different ways.

- Long side left or right. Corner sets such as Santorini and Sling XL come in two mirror versions.
- Specifications that contradict each other. For some products, the number of seats differs between fields. In that case, look at the photos and the dimensions.
- Delivery and returns. Large sets come in big parcels. Check with the shop how delivery and returns are arranged.

What should you watch out for with Apple Bee?
Factor in the table
Most lounge sets don't include a table. Choose a side table from the same series, such as the Condor coffee tables with a teak top, or look at the lounge tables.
Measure your terrace
