Compare Höfats fire pits and fire bowls

Höfats is a German design brand for fire pits and fire bowls with a recognisable shape. On this page you compare the Höfats ranges and their accessories with the key specifications and the current price at the shop. Boender Outdoor does not sell anything itself: you always order from the shop, with its delivery and terms.

The Höfats ranges

• Moon: a spherical fire pit in sizes 45 and 55, in silver or all black. According to the manufacturer the Moon is low-smoke. There is a base, lid, spark guard, plancha and cover for it.
• Bowl: a tilting fire bowl made of enamelled steel, in 57 and 70, with low-smoke combustion according to the manufacturer. You place it on a star base, a high stand or a tripod.
• Cube: a cube-shaped fire pit that also works as a barbecue, stool or table, with grill grate, plancha and top board.
• Crate and Beer Box: Corten steel fire baskets shaped like a crate and a beer crate.
• Triple: a Corten steel fire bowl in 65, 90 and 120, with grill grate, table and feet.
• Ellipse: a Corten steel fire bowl with its own grill grate.

Cooking over the fire

Many Höfats products are also made for cooking. For the Bowl there is a grill grate, a cast iron plancha, a Sear Grate, a warming ring and a top board, plus a lid and cover for when you are done. For the Moon there are planchas in 45 and 55, and for the Cube, Crate and Beer Box grill grates and top boards. Accessories are made per range and size, so check the title to see whether they fit your model, for example the Bowl 57 or Bowl 70.

What to look for when choosing

If you want less smoke, look at the Moon and the Bowl, which the manufacturer describes as low-smoke; the Low-smoke filter shows them together. The fire will still produce smoke, especially when lighting and with damp wood. If you want a fire pit that doubles as furniture, the Cube fits. For a large circle around the fire, a Triple in a larger size is an option. The Crate, Beer Box, Triple and Ellipse are made of Corten steel, which develops a brown rust layer that is part of the look. Compare the size with your patio using the Diameter filter.

Using it safely

Only light a fire in the open air, never under a canopy, pergola, parasol or awning, and never indoors or in a tent. Keep a generous distance from your house, trees, hedges and fences, as the manual describes. Place the fire pit or fire bowl on a stable, non-combustible surface such as paving or gravel, not on wooden decking. Burn dry, untreated wood, keep an eye on children and pets and have something to put the fire out close by. Check your local rules on fires; in the Netherlands a stookalert from the RIVM may apply.
