A garden set isn't something you buy every year, so you want to buy it at the right time. But what is the right time? Spring offers the widest choice, late summer brings the most clearance sales, and in November there's Black Friday. Each moment has its pros and cons. In this article you can read, season by season, what to expect from the range, the price and the delivery time, how to choose your own moment using the price chart and price alert, and what to check before you click order.
In short: if you want the widest choice, buy in spring. If you want discounts, look in late summer and autumn. Around Black Friday there are deals, but for garden furniture they're usually not the biggest. The best moment for your set is shown by the price history on the product page: set a price alert and compare the price with the lowest price of the past 30 days.

The year round: range, price and delivery time
Garden furniture follows the weather. In spring, everyone wants a new set at the same time; in autumn, almost nobody does. You can see this in the range, the prices and the delivery times. The table below shows the pattern you'll see at most shops. It's not a guarantee: each shop decides for itself when it starts a promotion or reduces a model.
| Period | Range and price | Delivery time |
|---|---|---|
| January and February | Remaining stock, first new models | Quiet |
| March through May | Largest choice, little discount | Busier, sometimes longer |
| June and July | Popular sets sell out | Can increase |
| August through October | Clearance, smaller choice | Usually quick |
| November | Black Friday deals | Expect busy periods |
| December | Quiet, small choice | Quiet |
Spring: the most choice
From March, the new collections arrive and the choice is at its widest. If you want a particular colour, a specific number of seats or the latest models, this is when you have the most options. Discounts are rare in this period because demand is high. And because many people order at the same time, delivery times can get longer. If you want your set ready for the first warm weather, it's better to order early in spring than once the sun is already shining.
Summer: buying when you need it
In June and July, you buy a garden set that you can use straight away. That's a big advantage: you'll have a whole summer to enjoy it. The downside is that popular sets can sell out or only become available later. If you're torn between two models, check the product page to see which shop has the set in stock now and how long delivery takes.
Late summer and autumn: the clearance
After the summer holidays, shops want to make room for the new collection. This is usually when you'll see the most reduced garden furniture. The choice is smaller, though: not every colour or size is still available. If you're flexible, this is often the best time to buy at a good price. You can read more about this in when does the garden furniture sale start.
November and winter: Black Friday and quiet
Around Black Friday there are deals, but for garden furniture they're usually smaller than for things like electronics. For how prices look right now, with the figures from our own tracking, read Black Friday garden furniture 2026. In December and January it's quiet. If you buy then, the set will be ready in time for spring, but you'll need to store it dry for a few months.
There isn't one best moment for all garden sets at once. The best moment is when the set you want drops below its usual price, and you'll only see that if you follow that price for a while.
What do you buy when?
Not everything has to be bought at the same time. A smart order spreads the costs and stops you from having to sort everything out in spring.
| Product | Good moment | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Garden set | Late summer or early spring | Clearance or widest choice |
| Protective cover | Autumn | Needed for winter |
| Garden cushions | Spring | Fresh for the season |
| Parasol | Spring or late summer | Choice or clearance |
It's best to buy a cover together with your set, or by autumn at the latest. Measure your set first and choose a breathable cover that's slightly larger. For how to help your garden furniture get through winter, read what to do with garden furniture in winter.
Which moment suits you?
Don't fancy reading the whole table? Answer three questions and you'll see which moment suits you best.
When is the best time for you to buy your garden set?
What matters most to you?
- The lowest possible price
- Exactly the model and colour I want
- Using it quickly
How flexible are you in your choice?
- Very flexible, as long as it fits
- I know exactly what I'm looking for
- A few options will do
Where can you keep the set until spring?
- In the shed or garage
- Nowhere, it needs to go straight into the garden
- It goes straight into the garden and gets used
Late summer or autumn. You're flexible and have storage space, so you'll get the most out of the clearance. Set a price alert on a few sets you like.
Early spring. That's when the choice is widest and your model and colour are most likely to be available. Order before the rush starts.
Now, in stock. If you want to use the set, don't wait for a deal that may never come. Choose a set that can be delivered quickly now and compare the shops.
How the price chart helps you choose
On every product page, you can compare the price across different shops. Below that is the price history. We check current prices every day and store them. Once there are enough measurements, you'll see a chart showing how the price has changed. Here's how to use it:
Use the buttons to view the past 30 days, 90 days or all the time since we started tracking. Look at the longest period first: that shows you the usual price.
The chart marks the lowest and highest points. Move your mouse or finger along the line and you'll see the price per day, the shop and the difference from today.
Next to the chart, you'll see the lowest price over the past 30 days and the lowest price since we started tracking. If today's price is at or below these, it's a good moment.
Not cheap enough yet? Set a price alert with your target price. You'll get an email as soon as the price drops below it. You'll need a free account for this.
Our daily tracking started in October 2026. For many products, you won't see a chart yet, but a note showing since when we've been tracking the price. The longer we track, the more the chart will tell you. In the article about Black Friday garden furniture 2026, you can read what our first measurements showed.
Keep the 30-day rule in mind
If a shop in the Netherlands announces a price reduction, the was-price must be the lowest price from the 30 days before. You can use the price chart to check for yourself that this is correct.
The deals page
The deals page lists all products that are currently below the shop's was-price, from garden sets to parasols and covers. The page is updated every day. It's handy for seeing what's on offer right now, but remember that the discount percentage is based on the was-price the shop itself states. So always click through to the product page and look at the price history before you decide.
How to choose your moment
- First decide what matters most: choice, price or using it quickly
- Set a price alert on two or three sets you like
- Compare the price with the lowest price of the past 30 days
- Look at the deals, but make your decision on the product page
- Buy a cover too if the set will stay outside over winter

Have you chosen your set and your moment? Then run through this list. Tick off what's done.
- I've measured my terrace, including the space needed around the table
- The number of seats suits the people I regularly entertain
- I've compared the price with the lowest price of the past 30 days
- I've put the shops side by side, not just looked at the biggest discount
- I know the delivery time and whether it fits when I need the set
- I've read the shop's returns policy
- I know whether cushions are included and where I'll store them
- I have a place for, or a protective cover for, winter

Common mistakes
Waiting for the first sunny day
Then everyone wants a garden set at the same time. There's a greater chance that your model won't be available or that you'll have to wait longer. It's better to order a few weeks earlier.
Buying based on the discount percentage
A high percentage off a high was-price saves you less than a small, genuine drop. Look at the price history and at what you actually pay.
Buying a set that doesn't fit just because it's on offer
A bargain set that's too big for your terrace or has too few seats isn't a bargain. Choose the size first, then the moment.
Forgetting about winter
If you buy in autumn or winter, the set will sit still for a few months. Without a dry spot or a cover, you'll start spring with dirty cushions and a grimy frame.
Tip: keep an eye on a few sets at once
Set a price alert on two or three sets you like. The first one that drops below your target price is the one you buy. That way you're not relying on just one deal.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best month to buy a garden set?
If you're looking for discounts, late summer into autumn is usually the most favourable time, as shops then clear this season's collection. If you want the widest choice instead, buy in spring, when the new collections arrive. If you're after a specific model, look mainly at that model's own price history.
Is it smart to buy a garden set in winter?
It can be. It's quiet, you can compare at your leisure, and there are promotions around Black Friday. The choice is smaller than in spring, though. If you buy in winter, store the set dry and covered until spring, and check on delivery straight away that everything is complete and undamaged.
How can I tell whether a garden set is really on offer?
Look at the price chart on the product page. It shows the lowest price of the past 30 days and the lowest price since we started tracking. If today's price isn't below those, a big discount is mostly a high original price. The offers page lists all products currently priced below the shop's original price.
How long does it take for a garden set to be delivered?
That varies by shop and by time of year. In spring and early summer demand is highest, so popular sets may take longer to arrive or temporarily sell out. The product page shows the current delivery time for each shop. If you need the set by a fixed date, order well in advance.
Should I wait for Black Friday to buy a garden set?
Not necessarily. For garden furniture, Black Friday isn't the biggest discount moment of the year. Instead, set a price alert on the set you want: you'll get an email as soon as the price drops below your target price, even if that happens before or after Black Friday.
