Monolith kamados: compare the Junior, Icon and Classic
Monolith is a German brand that makes ceramic kamados, with a lot of attention to finish and an extensive system of inserts. A kamado is a thick-walled, egg-shaped barbecue that holds its heat for a long time. With the air intake at the bottom and the vent in the lid you control the temperature, so you can grill, smoke low and slow and bake pizza. On this page you compare Monolith kamados and a large number of Monolith accessories, with the current price at the shop.
The Monolith models
- Junior 2.0: the small kamado with a 33 cm grate, as a starter set or as the Solo without a stand
- Icon: a compact kamado with a 33 cm grate, as a starter set
- Classic Pro-serie 2.0: the mid-size model with a 46 cm grate
- ONE.55 and TWO.55: the ONE.55 with stand and as a Classic starter set, the TWO.55 Classic as a Ø 44 cm ceramic kamado and as a starter set
- Avantgarde.55 Classic: a kamado without a stand, designed to be set into a table or outdoor kitchen
- Accessories: smoke sets, grates and planchas, rotisserie, charcoal baskets, thermometers, covers and charcoal
Which Monolith suits you?
If you usually cook for one to three people, or want a kamado that is easy to move, the Junior 2.0 and the Icon are a logical choice. They are compact, heat up quickly and use little charcoal. For a family, or if you regularly smoke a large joint of meat, the Classic Pro-serie 2.0 with its 46 cm grate is the usual size. The models from the .55 line, such as the ONE.55 and TWO.55, are in the same size class; compare the specification and what comes in the set on the product page.
When comparing, pay attention to the difference between a kamado with a stand, a starter set and a kamado on its own. A starter set usually already includes a stand and some basic accessories, which is handy when you are starting out. A version without a stand, such as the Junior 2.0 Solo or the Avantgarde.55 Classic, is meant for a table or a built-in setup. New to kamados? Read how to use a kamado barbecue.
Monolith accessories
Monolith offers many accessories per size. There are smoke sets with a smoke generator, a deflector stone for indirect cooking, stainless steel grates, cast-iron planchas and grates from the SGS system, a Feuerbox fire box and charcoal baskets for the Classic and for the Junior and Icon. For spit roasting there is a rotisserie, a skewer set and a motor. You will also find a wok ring, a pizza stone for the Junior, a cloche, Bluetooth thermometers, an electric lighter, gasket felt, bamboo handles, a waterproof cover and premium kamado charcoal. Also take a look at the thermometers, rotisseries and charcoal baskets, or read which kamado accessories you need. Check the product page to see whether an accessory fits your model.
