Weber gas barbecues: which series suits you?

The compact Q series (including the Q 1200N, Q 2100, Q 2800N+ and Q 3200N) comes as a tabletop model and with a stand or cart. The Traveler and the small Go-Anywhere are designed to take with you. The Spirit is the freestanding gas barbecue for the average family, with two, three or four burners (such as the E-210, E-310, E-335 and E-425). The Genesis (including the E-315, E-335, EPX-335 and the stainless steel S-325s and SX-325s) is larger and more generously equipped, and the Summit FS38X E is the top model. If you prefer cooking on a griddle, there are the Weber Plancha and Slate Plancha gas models in various widths.

Napoleon

How many burners do you need?

For a small household, a compact model or a 2-burner is often enough. With three burners you have room to switch off part of the grate and cook indirectly, for example a whole chicken, while grilling on the other burners. Four or more burners are useful if you often cook for large groups. Also look at extras such as a side burner, an infrared burner for searing or a Weber GBS grate (Gourmet BBQ System) with a removable centre for inserts.

Gas, charcoal, kamado or electric?

A gas barbecue is ideal if you want to grill quickly and without fuss. A charcoal barbecue gives more smoky flavour, but requires more preparation. A kamado combines charcoal with good temperature control. Gas bottle and maintenance

Most freestanding gas barbecues run on a gas bottle with a regulator and hose; small portable models can often also run on a gas cartridge. Check which regulator belongs with your barbecue and country, replace a dried-out hose in time and carry out a leak test with soapy water after connecting. After grilling, let the grate burn off for a while, brush it clean and empty the drip tray regularly.
